Sometimes you'll need to change the file or directory permissions, usually when setting up a script such as a forum or a blog etc.

In most FTP clients you can change file permissions by following the steps below:

  1. Connect to your FTP account
  2. Upload the script files
  3. Right click on the files/folders you wish to change permissions on and select CHMOD, Change Privileges or Permissions
  4. Set the new permissions and click OK, Apply or Confirm
  5. Repeat as necessary following the specific instructions for the script
  6. Disconnect from FTP.
If you are experiencing difficulty in changing your file permissions, please submit a support ticket via your control panel. We may be able to directly change your file permissions for you.
