If you are a Hosting customer, you will be aware of the recent announcement made by us to discontinue the free web hosting service. We are asking that any existing customers transfer their website files across to before our service is fully discontinued and closed on 1st October 2012.

If you are an existing Hosting customer, please follow the guide below on how to transfer your existing website files across to

IMPORTANT: If you are not an existing customer - please read this article instead.

Step 1: backup and download your files.

You'll first need to login to your FTP account and backup your website files stored on the servers. Make a copy of your files and store them on your computer in case anything goes wrong. Download your files into a .zip or .gzip compressed folder. Some FTP programs will allow you to download all your files into a compressed folder automatically (just by clicking a button). If you are not sure how to do this, download all your files normally and then 'compress' or 'zip' them into a compressed folder via your computer. A guide on how to do this (courtesy of can be found at

Remember to make a backup of any existing databases you have. Our Hosting service will allow you to download your databases in a compressed format by default. For help on how to download your existing MySQL databases, please see this video.

Step 2: Register with and upload.

After registering and creating a new account here at, log into your favourite FTP program and connect to your FTP account. Your welcome email from will contain all your important FTP settings and login details.

Once connected to your new FTP account, upload your compressed .zip or .gzip file into your account.. Once uploaded, 'unzip' or 'extract' the compressed file to populate your file directory with all your website's files. This may take several seconds to a few minutes, depending on the file size and speed of your internet connection

If your website uses MySQL databases - don't forget to create new databases (using the same name) via your control panel. Using the phpMyAdmin tool, you can "import" existing database contents into the new database you just created. Make sure you import the database from (that you saved to your computer) or your website won't work correctly.

If you have an existing domain name - remember to 'add' or 'park' it to your new account via your control panel. After you've done this, make sure you change your domain's DNS settings. Information on how to add, park and change DNS settings can be found here. It can take anything up to 72 hours for new DNS settings to take effect, but it is usually considerably quicker than this.

Once you have added or parked your domain via your control panel, please login into your old control panel and DELETE your existing domain name(s) from your account. This will prevent confusion and allow your domains to work correctly on

Step 3: Close your account.

Before you log out of your control panel for the last time, please submit a support ticket to our team requesting that your account be deleted. This tells us that you have finished with your account and transferred to without problems. If you do not do this, your account will be deleted automatically when is fully closed on 1st October 2012.

That's it, don't forget to check your website to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Welcome to your new home here at! If you have any problems, please submit a support ticket via your control panel.
